چکیده

We establish that the Fluctuation Smoothing Policies for Mean Cycle Time (FSMCT) are stable for stochastic re{entrant lines. These constitute the rst analytical results for stochastic systems on this class of scheduling policies, which were proposed in 1] and 2], and shown to substantially reduce the mean and variance of cycle times semiconductor plant models. A special case is the Last Buuer First Serve policy. Stability of FSMCT policies is established by showing that their uid limits empty in nite time.

Scheduling Manufacturing Systems of Re{entrant Lines

Re{entrant lines are manufacturing systems where parts may return more than once to the same machine, for repeated stages of processing. Examples of such systems are semiconductor manufacturing plants. We consider the problems of scheduling such systems to reduce manufacturing lead times, variations in the manufacturing lead times, or holding costs. We assume a deterministic model, which allows...

A generalized stochastic Petri net model for performance analysis and control of capacitated reentrant lines

The basic definition of the re-entrant line, which constitutes the typical abstraction for the formal modelling and analysis of the fab scheduling problem, considers only the job contest for the finite processing capacity of the system workstations, ignoring completely the effects and complications arising from additional operational issues like the finite buffering capacity of the system works...

Closed Queueing Networks in Heavy Traac: Fluid Limits and Eeciency

We address the behavior of stochastic Markovian closed queueing networks in heavy traac, i.e., when the population trapped in the network increases to innnity. All service time distributions are assumed to be exponential. We show that the uid limits of the network can be used to study the asymptotic throughput in the innnite population limit. As applications of this technique, we show the eecie...

Stability of multi-class queueing networks with infinite virtual queues

We generalize the standard multi-class queueing network model by allowing both standard queues and infinite virtual queues which have infinite supply of work. We pose the general problem of finding policies which allow some of the nodes of the network to work with full utilization, and yet keep all the standard queues in the system stable. Towards this end we show that re-entrant lines, systems...

The Impact of Monetary and Exchange Policies on the Country’s Trade balance Fluctuation with the Approach of Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models

This paper uses the framework of new Keynesian school and the literature of the Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model to build a general model that can be estimated for Iran economy. By simulating this model, the effects of the implementation of monetary and foreign exchange policies through policy instruments including bank interest rate, central bank international reserves and t...
